The London Housing Registry (LHR) is no more. A non-profit, non-governmental, service that assisted Londoners on low or limited incomes find housing. For the last thirty-four (34) years the LHR worked with landlords and rental agencies to source and list such housing in their registry.
Their mission was to prevent homelessness. They served families who were in a housing crisis. They were largely successful having found housing for some 25,000 families.
The reason appears to be funding and the scarcity of affordable housing in the city of London. Vacancy rates are very low in London. That drives rent increases. None of this is good news for those on social assistance, fixed incomes or otherwise down on their luck.
